well here is my take

block hone is about 10.00 per hole, tq plate not needed per gm becuase of the head bolt location in the block (down low)
cleaning is a must, clearencing easily done yourself. Cam bears need to be installed if you are going to change them.
If it is a running engine most of the block will be ok. JUst have your parts checked out by machine shop to make sure they are machined properly.

Call TBryne if you want a Lunati, he's the man!

I've decided to go with a basic re-ring unless the motor is really messed up inside, if it is well then the stroker may be on the table. Tear down is next week to see what we got to work with.

H82,

I think you win the lost cost stroker build of year award!

Congradulations on the new set up.

Anyone have a link to the eagle crank? Any sponser selling the eagle crank? What are the least expensive forged rods that would work?

It seems to me the most cost effective option, however, is to offset grind a stock crank, then have it balanced. Probably plenty strong for any N/A application, and you can customize the stroke.

Then buying the rods, pistons, and other parts piece-mill. This would probably run < $2500 total, right?

Anyone know the price for that, or have it done? I have seen many v-6 SHOs here in Cal have offset grinding done to increase their displ to 3.6 L, but not many on ls1s yet I've heard of.

Carvinta, take a look at Thunder Racing's internal engine section. They have pricing for the Eagle crank. I am unsure if they have pricing for an entire Eagle crank based rotating assembly on the webpage yet.

I think you need new rods & pistions when you offset grind as well as rebalancing everthing. Depending on the block it might need a little machine work too. I always come up with ~$1000 to offset .010 for 3.72 crank for like 10 CID ie 346 to 356 not much of a deal IMO. Of course if you were upgrading to a forged 346 and already need new rods & pistions why not?

If you offset to 3.82 for ~20 CID for 366 it's going to be about as expensive as the Eagle set up for 16 less CID. The 3.82 will require Acura bearings or similar for a ~1.88 crank journal. Used Carillo Nascar rods are the only rod I know of that will work with Acura bearings in an LS1. Needless to say have ~$2000 to do the 3.82 There may be another way but this is the one I'm familar with. I discussed with an engine builder and he was like if your going to pay that much and do that much machining and balancing...just get a matched stroker kit.
