Default PRC stage 1.0 LS6 heads.....

Got them via UPS today.... opened the box.

first impressions:
man, ALOT bigger than i remember my stock head ports being.
ported surfaces are all smooth no burrs. some finished surfaces have "PRC" engraved into them, i thought it was a nice touch. however, a few issues regarding shipping. The box they came in was dented on the outside. the heads themselves had a few compression dents around the edges, thankfully none of them were on sealing surfaces, some time with the swiss files, and prussian blue helped to remove the high spots, followed by some 1000-3000 grit sandpaper. slid a MLS gasket and checked if any of the filed and sanded spots even touched the sealing rubber, they all cleared. think ill be ok?

Texas Speed if your reading this: your workmanship is top notch
but pack delicate stuff with a few more layers of cardboard and bubble wrap!

Glad you hear you like the heads. Definitely let us know how they work out for you.

Man UPS is brutal on items. I don't know what else to do to protect the heads. They are bubble wrapped, bagged, wrapped in corrugated cardboard, and then boxed in a double corrugated cardboard box! We've done everything we can think of to protect the heads as much as possible during shipping. You can imagine how many times they are dropped, kicked, thrown, etc. I'll make mention to see if we can come up with something else to add to it to possibly help out. We definitely appreciate the feedback and are always looking for ways to improve!

Let us know if you need anything at all and we'll get you fixed up!

Thanks again!
Jon

My brother has the PRC stage 1 LS6 heads as well, and I agree, the ports are way bigger than the stock heads. They also look very nice.

I'll report that the same thing happened to my heads as well. They were packaged pretty well, but there's only so much you can do I guess.

The ports are actually not that large. Just using a eye ball to check size isn't the correct way to determine if a port is "way bigger"

The PRC ports are actually fairly small compared to a lot of LS6 ported heads on the market. They were redesigned a while back to maximize airflow & keep the port as small as possible.

alright, the lack of casting flash/grainy surface finish confused my small brain into thinking that the ports look that much bigger

No worries, I just don't want you thinking you bought some hogged out cylinder head. We worked really hard to minimize port size while maximizing port flow!

Let us know how that thing does on the dyno!!!
