from what I have seen you can hit your goal without spending the money on cnc heads. There are lots of threads where guys are making good power with cast 243's.

here is one of many examples that can be found: https://ls1tech.com/forums/dynamomet...is-tuning.html

i'de still rather go with a h/c set up. the PRC LS6 2.5 are good head, especially for the money. yeah maybe if he was on a real tight budget he could do stock 243's.

is $2200 not a tight budget?

He will have to subtract $500 for a tune. That leaves $1700 for heads, cam, lifters, pushrods, timing chain, bolts and gaskets? Then there are other misc. items like oil and filter.

Personally I really like the Stage 2.5 LS6 heads if you don't mind the extra money past the Stage 2.5 5.3l heads. Either setup will easily push you well past the dyno numbers your looking to get to. Give us a call & we can help put together a package for you with all the bolts, gaskets, parts & a mail order tune for well under your budget!
