give tsp a call if you have springs already get your 241s cncd for 600 or so and call it a day. I will pay 600 for a better flowing 241 than say 500 for stock 243s... btw a ls1 head say 241 has the same capability as the 5.3 head as far as flow. only thing thats better on the 5.3 heads for n/a is the small combustion chamber for compression increase even more than an ls6 head.

prc heads from tsp site
5.3 head stage 2.5 ls6 stage 2.5
.2=147/111 .2=147/114
.3=206/145 .3=209/152
.4=254/185 .4=258/191
.5=291/204 .5=294/207
.6=312/223 .6=316/226

i highly doubt you will get a cookie cutter port job on 241's and have them flow anywhere near the 312cfm the 5.3's net...

ported 241's from tsp for 600 will get you close to 290cfm and thats half the price of the 5.3's. The op said he was on a BUDGET, thats why these option are available, for those on a BUDGET lol. Obviously there are better options if money allows. The whole point is ported 241's will out flow a cast 243 all day,and it don't cost much more than what you would pay to pick up a decent set of stock 243's. It all depends on goals for the car and again BUDGET...

Brand new LS2 heads complete for less than $650 a set. Basically LS6 heads minus the hollow valves.

Shop around and see if you can find a set of used TSP PRC 243 Stage 1s. When I ran the TV2 and put a on a set the car pickedup 50RWHP on a dynojet.

I would definately get a pair of 243/799s. I just bought 799s that came off a a GXP for $350. Slap them on your car now and then save up and get them ported/polished later. There are plenty of guys on the forum making good power with 243/799s.

depends what your goals are,and how much money your willing to spend..a set of 243s in good shape with low miles SHOULD net you about 20rw hp over your current heads with that cam,,maybe a little more..but as always results will vary..
just getting a better VJ by someone that knows LS motors will gain you a few more CFM,but then your adding cost to the budget..
look at your options,decide what your willing to spend as for dollar per HP, and if the extra cost is worth the expense..

I wanna say it was an '05 or '07 Grand Prix GXP with a 5.3L LS4 in it. I'm not positive on the year though. I'm pretty sure all LS4 GXPs, Monte Carlos SS, and Impala SS come with 243/799s. Check out the LS4 section, ya might find some used 243/799s for sale.
