What's the specs on the stall? From what I've read here, that's going to be your single most impressive mod -- gears are only going to help drivability, not ET.

Yank ss 3600 and the most impressive mod to me is the cam the converter is gonna get me staight to where the cam starts making power. I was under the impression that gears would help ET?

[QUOTE=02*C5;12902230][QUOTE=Fb0dy0nly;12902065]Agreed, Im not sure that vararam is going to do him any good, nor will the xpipe or zo6 diff...and why would you pay $450 for a cam? You can have one custom specd by most rep sponsors on here for no more than $350-75, off shelf, prob cheaper..

And I dont think you need a super 2k upgraded 4l60 just to get 400whp...that is just extra insurance, so is new lifters, rockers, and a double roller...extra insurance unless you have a really high mileage motor, then yes, I would replace as well. Higher flowing Injectors are good upgrade to do but unecessary for a cam only setup...
______
Lets be realistic for $5K yeah maybe but not possible.

The way I look at it do it right the first time or don't do it at all. With 500 rwhp do you think that 10 bolt is going to hold up. Yeah maybe for one launch, his best bet is to get get a 9" How much is that going to run him.

If anyone is just looking for big numbers ad a cam and a shot of nitrous and you are there if you want your car to be able to be a reliable street/strip vehicle then you have to take a couple of precautions. Regardless if its an F body a Corvette or even a Honda.

I'm not one to say -- this thread seemed informative. Give it a read.

In an auto car not a whole lot, now M6 is a different story. 3.23 is a great all around gear for auto cars. I used to have it and went to a 3.73. They make traction even harder to come by. But with the gear you can feel it pull through the gears a little quicker. Its kind of a trade off for auto cars.

Should I just save the 500 bucks then?

Just to clear things up here, on a stock converter gears will help quite a bit. When you add a stall, the gears won't help et's because the stall slips up into the powerband regardless of what gear your running. At that point gears just help drivability by making the stall feel "tighter", meaning it will take less throttle to get the car moving. If your not running a good tire with a stall and 3.73's you could actually be slower than lets say a stalled 2.73 setup because of traction as 01ssreda4 pointed out.
