It really was a poor choice. If I were you I would compare flow numbers and ask other "EXPIRIENCED" members on this board about what they think of those heads. But if you are trying to save "A" hundred bucks, then you get what you pay for. Good luck with your build...

case closed here guys

+1, Patriot's reputation is not that great, nor their performance in relation to equivalent heads of another porter.

I honestly couldn't find any threads about the Patriot heads being bad.

Nobody said they were bad, just look at proven combinations to see what they use, and to a lesser extent flow bench numbers.

I didn't see anything outside of PRC being recommended in this thread. If you're looking for ls6 heads there are other better options than them.

And like the heads, some are better than others.

Now it's an old link. The search feature works fine, you just don't know how to use it. Search in this sub-forum for "prc 5.3 ls6"

I honestly couldn't find any threads about the Patriot heads being bad.
See above.

Actually I know how the search function works as I am an admin on 2 different car forums. Just because I am a newb here doesn't mean I am a newb to how vb works.

Like what? with that comment you should bring something to the table.
What is it you see has being a "better option"?

He's probably referring to aftermarket castings, but that would be irrelevant since the guy seems to be looking for a budget solution.

If I had the money I'd drop it on AFR's in a hear beat. You are exactly right about being on a budget. Getting married = small budget

Still worth is for the prc's over the patriots though.

tea's get the job done, but they are way up in price if he has to provide cores.

tea stage 2
$1745.00 With new GM 799 cores While supplies last.

Based on the flow charts provided the stage 2.5 actually flow less than the stage 2 if you look at it. The only advantage is oversized valves. Comparing apples to apples so to speak is the prc 2.5 vs tea 2.

I bought the Stage 1's because they were in my budget. $1,326 shipped.

If I were building my entire motor I'd go with a completely different cylinder head.
