Default more ls7 questions

ok so its finally getting time to put my engine back together and i had some more questions on stuff.

ok so i had bent valves and had no money to do heads and a cam so i was stuck with stock cam and stock but ported and blended heads with a valve job and after market springs.

i also had a colasped lifter so i went ahead and got 16 new one from gm.

sooo.
does that meen they are ls7 lifters?
and if so can i still go with the stock pushrods?

also are napa or just any part store head gaskets ok?
what all do i need to do with these lifters and valvetrain to make sure im not ripping this thing appart again anytime soon. this is my first time messing with anything internal if you cant tell lol

thanks!!

SAD..jk. The lifters you bought are the stock replacements. Which happen to also be LS7 style lifters.
Edit: shouldn't say "LS7 stye" as that may be confusing. They are ls7 lifters. those superceded the original design

Since the LS7 is a Gen IV, try posting in the Gen IV section...

From what I have read, well, it depends lol. Some say 7.400 (stock) works and others say because of how the cup sits on the new lifter you need a 7.350 push rod. But it's all in your setup.

why don't you just test your preload with your pushrods and see. Then if they are not giving you the proper preload then purchase what you need.

I don't understand why you need the blessing from the forum to try it.

They are LS7 lifters and they are fine.. I would not put stock pushrods back in any motor!!! They are one of the weakest points of our valvetrain!!! For a little over a hundred bucks you can get Chromoly PR from almost any vendor. Stock length PR are fine. Also check out the MLShead gasket from GM good product and not very expensive.
Hope this helps.. Good luck.

well like he said he doesn't know about this stuff and thats why this forum is here, to help people learn not question why their asking a forum.

if i were you i'd get new pushrods also while your in there, not that expensive. btw OP this many days and this few responses is what tech is about, sadly it's like high school . . . if your not a popular poster people don't post in your threads or talk to you
