243 x1 upgrades?

Default 243 x1 upgrades?

currently have a tr224 with stock 241 heads. Plan to go dyno this month and hit the track for times. I happen to have an x1 cam that has been sitting in my garage for awhile and lately have been looking at upgrading to used 243 heads. My goal is to hit 11s on street tires with full weight 1.9x short time. Will the upgrades get me there and/or will I notice a significant power increase with the two mods listed above? I would prefer not to loose any down low torque but want a bigger sounding cam with usable power.....rev limit is currently 6800rpms. TIA

you should be able to hit 11's with the 224 cam and those 243 heads, and definitely be able to run 11's with the X1 and 243 heads. i run the X1 as well.

street tires and full weight might be pushing it, i would say DRs and full weight possibly. I do 11 sec runs full weight with DRs.

Ugh.....so it seems like I should keep the $500 until I can afford some PRCs Stage 1 LS6 to guarantee 11s. Thanks

Go with at least nittos preferably e/t street radials. I wouldn't count on 11's with
st1 ls6 heads on street tires either. Street tires hurt your times quite a bit.

Yeah....trying to stay on street tires and save the 10bolt for a little while longer. Once I pay down some bills, invest in a 9 bolt and then run some serious tires, but wanted to hit 11s before I take a break from modding.

You might want to consider the DR's if your wanting to save your rear end. I was running street tires at the track and i would have really bad wheel hop (can kill you rear end) and even some on the street. Now that i switched to nittos for street tires and MT ET's for the track i haven't had wheel hop since.

Didn't think about the wheel hop, always that it was the hard launching.....I actually have a set of BFG DR mounted on 16s that have just been sitting in the attic.......

Its gonna be hard running 11s on street tires. 243s and an X1 will have the power, you will be lucky to get a 1.9 short time.
