Default Comp XFI Lobe cams. Lobe hardness issue?

Anyone seen something like this before? I have four lobes like this on my cam with less than 10K miles. I pulled it out to put my GTO back to stock before selling the car. I'm glad it came our before causing more issues. It's hard to sell a car with a siezed motor from metal chips and bearings colliding.

I also have a buddy nearby that has an XFI lobe cam with the same issue. His actually took a lifter with it and he ended up replacing all his lifters and his cam. He was pretty lucky, it could have been worse.

I'm replacing my comp cam right now for the same reason except i have four lobes that look a lot worse than that. The reason i found it was bad is because the small pieces of metal made my oil pressure relief valve stuck open which = no oil pressure. Luckily I always watch my gauge when i start engine, so looks like no damage. Oh and my cam has 76000 miles on it, so can't complain as much i would if it only had 10,000 miles.

Yeah. This is my third comp cam and the only one that showed any damage. I thought it was a little wild that me and a friend both with relatively new XFI cams had the same problem.

I was mostly wondering if anyone else was having the same problem.

I have not. Though I probably should. I called one night last week and was put on terminal hold. After 30 minutes of waiting and their closing time approaching rapidly, I gave up. I read their limited warranty online and it stops at 1 yr from the date of purchase. As this one is two years old, I didn't think I really had a leg to stand on, but I may still give them another call.

Did you guys notice anything out of the ordinary or did you pull the cam and just happen to see the damage?
