Default Another head milling question...

Does anyone know exactly how much you can safley mill a GM LS casting cylinder head before intake fitment becomes an issue? How about before deck thickness becomes substantially weakend? Alot of conflicting info from my searches... I have personally taken .030" off an 862 casting 5.3 head with no issues, even sprayed a 150 shot through it on numerous occasions without any issues. Hoping some cylinder head guru's can chime in a bit. Trying to get the chambers down a bit on some 317's and was curious if anybody knew the safe limits to do so. Thanks-

I was recently told by a machine shop that they could take .030" off casting 243 heads, but beyond that there might be issues. Don't know if that also applies to 317 heads or not.

I milled .040" off my 241s. I've been told you can go .060", but that's what I've been told?

Yeah .040" was mentioned quite a bit in a few of my searches. Maybe someone will chime in on this...
