Default Rod Ferrules?

What are rod ferrules? I read that in the 1998-2000 models they need to be removed when upgrading rod bolts. I have a 1998 and cannot find the ferrules. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks allot guys

They are the little steel "tubes" that are in your rodbolt holes...on mine I took one bolt out at a time and used a pencil magnet to get the ones that didn't come out with the bolts

best way I can describe it on the ones I have done is the rod bolt with start threading as soon as you put it in the rod hole. Thats bc the ferrule is in the rod cap itself. You are actually threading the rod bolt through the ferrule. Then after about 5-8 turns the bolt wil all the sudden get loose again and feel like its not threaded into anything. Maybe like you stripped a hole. Thats because the ferrule got past the threads and it up by the shank of the bolt which is a smaller diameter then the threads so it can move freely. Now, with over half the bolt in the hole, you can actually start threading the rod bolt into the rod itself. If your bolts dont act funny like this you must not have ferrules.
