I agree the math is not an adequate substitute for actual measurement.

But, I think doing the math is useful for: (a) those who want to have two or three sizes on hand so they don't have to wait for pushrods even though the motor is almost finished; and (b) those of us who like to have a benchmark or reality check on our measurement to reduce the possibility of error.
