Default Camshaft Degree?

I have all these old muscle car guys telling me to degree my cam that im putting in my 2000 T/A WS6 and my dad is saying that I dont have to. Is degreing a cam a thing of the past for LS1's or what? reply quickly please.

you still need to degree the cam.

Its the only real way to determine if it was ground corectly,if not you can may have piston to valve clearance problems.The last cam my son and i installed was off almost 2 degrees.

Degreeing cam in the car is alot of work, not everyone has the tools, what I like to do, you can have Comp Cams Adcole check the camshaft.

Adcole tester is same as cam doctor. Digitally measures all 16 lobes for all specifications. Adcole report matches the cam card, you're good to go.

I charge $75 to have Comp Cams run Adcole report.
