Default What rods do I use?

Anyone know what rods are used with LS6 crank part # 12583565, full floaters or pressed pin? I'm getting conflicting data from GM LS6 specs.

It doesn't really matter, either will work just fine. I'd go with the floating pin though, they're easier and faster to assemble.

I was under the impression the floaters were heavier and thus required the proper crank for balance. Not that critical in a NA street motor?

Depends how accurate of a balance you want. The weight difference will be in the small end bushing and the c-clips. It's probably only a couple grams, which if you're just going to rely on the factory balance job, probably isn't much anyways considering the manufacturing variances are probably even worse. I think floating/pressed pin rods depend on the year, but I'm not 100% sure about that.

I was under the impression the crank would be balanced before assembly anyways.

First, thanks for the reply. I wasn't sure if the floaters were all that much heavier. I should just weigh them!
You're right, I should just have it balanced, however it was factory balanced and I have both sets of rods and pistons.

Ok. So I weighed the 2 sets of rods/pistons. The full floater set up weighs 70 grams more than the press fit set up. That sounds like a lot to me. I'm still wondering what rods/pistons I should use with this crank. Anyone?

Wow, 70 grams? Did you just weigh the piston and rod together, or are they seperate? Rings? Bearings?
