Default Need a Cam!!!!

I need a nice cam that will put down good numbers, but still be very streetable. I've seen good things about 224/224, but I'm just confused on what the difference is between 224/224 and 224/227. I still have stock heads and don't plan on getting better ones for awhile. I'm kinda going the sleeper route. Any advice would be great!!!

In general, those cams will yield almost the same results. In theory, the 227 exhaust duration would be better for an exhaust or heads that weren't quite as free flowing on the exhaust side compared to the cam with 224 exhaust duration. But there is alot more to look at other than strictly intake and exhaust duration; such as lobe profile, split and advance (which can be altered at install). Cams in that range are very good for daily drivers though, as you will sacrifice very little to nothing with a good tune.

alot of people like the 224r from TSP,$590 for cam/springs/push rods.$75 for the cam change kit .you will need a retune.

Something in the 224 - 228 range is what I would get since driveablity is important to you.

those cams will be very close to each other, if you plan on keeping stock heads maybe get a 227/224 on 114 that will help pull a little more air in with the stock heads.

I had a torquer 2 in my daily driven LS1 GTO. I loved it made nice power all over and pulled all the way to 7000. It also had a noticeable lope. You will probably want to go bigger once you put a cam in. So, put one in that is one size bigger than you think you want. Also, drivability is affected alot by how good the tune is.
