Zero oil pressure pump failure?
Zero oil pressure pump failure? I lost oil pressure this weekend , started getting valve train noise, started car Again and it had pressure, drove car one mile parked it, no noise and it had oil pressure. Restarted car again zero oil pressure and valvetrain noise again. This Is 402 ls2 been in car for 8000 miles. I changed the filter wondering if it was clogged and hooked an external oil pressure gauge to it, crank for just a second still has no oil pressure, could the pump have failed, the car was idleing when it lost pressure. I didn't hear anything break or pop
Start by changing the oil and see if there is any metal in the oil. It would also be a good idea to cut the filter open to see what it looks like as well. It wouldn't think it would be a pump but anything is possible. Does it sound like the noise is coming from valve covers or elsewhere in the motor?

Valve covers. I started it up with new filter I filled filter before insatlling it, I let it run about 4 seconds oil pressure never moved, the confusing part is that it came and went. I'm wondering if my pick up tube bolt rattled lose
