Default Knocking after cam/heads install

EPP forced induction cam
232, .595 int 240, .608 exhaust
7.400 chromeoly pushrods
317 heads milled .007
New ls7 lifters
Ok I started the car after all was back together and let it run for 20 min. There was no noise or other sounds. After I took a break and cleaned up and about an hour later started it again still no noises. After another hour I started it again and pulled it out of my garage...no problems. Then I take the car up to get some gas, maybe a mile or two and never took it above 3k or so and arrived at the gas station and no knocking. I fill up with gas and start the car and it begins to tick. The tick slowly becomes louder and louder. As I made my way home it began to misfire and the check engine light began to flash. When I pulled into my driveway I tried to start it and once again it began knocking on startup and the car ran terrible. Does anyone have advice? Im at a loss and am getting fed up with these troubles. Thanks guys

well from looking at your parts list i would immediately say your pushrods are too long

if it was the pushrods wouldn't it just make a constant tick and not get any louder? I dont know just tryin to throw some ideas. If it started the noise after you got gas and stuff.. did you use the right octane? I dont know what kind you need with those heads and what kind of compression ratio you have. Could have caused you to fry some plugs too.. im just brainstorming really

well hypthetically speaking, IF your pushrods are too long then the tick would be apparent at first but get louder as they bend and then you have rocker noise along with a bent pushrod banging against the lifter bore and lifter itself. heres the fun part. take it apart and see what you find before you have to remove the heads again for other damaged compnents.

Where does it sound like the tick is coming from? Oil pressure looks good? Did you check preload or PTV? I would probably start by checking over everything. Pull the valve covers off and look over the valvetrain and double check your preload.

You need to find out what the engine code is first, that will narrow it down to start chasing things. Could be bad gas, bad 02, fouled plugs.. Your still on stock tune right?

Well I asked Bob at EPP and those are the pushrods he said to run. The heads were only milled .007 so I didnt think it would cause anything but I could be wrong. The spark plugs are brand new but it is untuned. Im gunna take the valve covers off now and see what I can dig up. Thanks everyone

i was there last night when all this started happening. Oil pressure is better than before, so thats fine. im leaning towards a rocker arm or pushrod issue also. but we'll find out here soon enough.

Rockers were torqued down but had slight, very slight play from side to side. Unfortunately I dont have a code reader so I cant find that. Im just hoping its not lower end. I dont see why it would be but with my luck no one knows lol

I got it one of my rockers had come loose on the pass side which was causing the tick. the knock I heard was actually my exhaust banging around because I was running filthy rich and fouled out my plugs. All is well now and its somewhat tuned. I still want a dyno tune though. But thanks for your guys help.
