Default Cheapest 4" crank?

What's the best price out there? Preferably a cast steel version, like Scat or Eagle. This build doesn't need 4340 forged. BTW, it's 24x.

i do not think anybody makes cast steel cranks. scat and eagle make forged steel cranks.

forging method creates much stronger pats

the factory crank is cast iron

There is one that is non-forged for around $550.
I saw it in one of my recent parts books. I am at work now, I will post up more info when I get home.

Since Eagle can do a cast steel stroker SBC crank for under $200, there's no reason they shouldn't do the same for the LS for under $500. I've had a supercharged 383 hit 640 HP at 6000 rpm with a $250 (new) cast steel Scat stroker crank, a 350 SBC stroked to 383. Cast steel will more than suffice for a <500 hp LS.

the stock cast iron crank will hold more then 500hp no problem so the cast steel unit should be even stronger if done properly

The Callies C-Series stuff is probably your best bet.

What is the stock crank made out of?

It will push 1000hp+ plus

There is no reason you can't make it out of the same material and it be as strong.

read my first post

i personally would not push a cast iron crank to 1000hp, atleast not without treating it

We sell those at a decent price and can balance it as well for your rotating assembly.

NO one makes a cast crank LSx 4.000 yet but I am sure someone will at some point as it's been over ten years now with only steel cranks!

I called Callies and they said as long as you're under 650HP peak at the motor it's OK to use. Said it was designed more for trucks that do hauling. Would this be OK to use as a crank in 416 LS3 with stock LS3 heads and aftermarket cam?

Yes it should be fine Jim. For extreme NA or high rpm or power adder use I would use the regular 4340 crank but these should work fine on an NA normal hydraulic roller engine.
