You should read some of Tony Mamo's threads here on the mods performed on AFR 205 heads for 346 and 402 engines. Opening up the chambers helped the performance potential on a 346 as well. If you research and mod smart, you should be able to buy a head that works well on both combos. Compression will be the trickiest part - make sure you can build a 402 with your target compression with the same combustion chamber and the proper gasket. If anything, err on the low side for your 346 so that you don't need a custom piston later.

Example:

3.898" bore x 3.622" stroke, 62cc chamber, .040 gasket and flat top pistons comes to 11.32:1 for the 346 (on the Piano Prodigy Calculator)

4.000" bore x 4.000" stroke, 62cc chamber, .040 gasket and 10cc dish comes out to 11.43:1 for the 402.

Both should work well with the average mid-size or slightly larger cam.

allngn, yes a tight budget right now, When it gets around to the time of the 402 things won't be tight or the build won't happen haha. I definitely don't mind just buying a 4" bore to start with as long as I can still get the maximum potential out of it with the stock bore. I was just worried extra turbulence in the combustion chamber would cause problems.

Also, does anyone know what kind of power levels can be expected with the TFS 220cc as cast heads and say a 228 cam on 112LSA? I don't want to go much over a 228 so I can keep driveability as good as possible

It wasnt me, because trikes are ghey.
