Use a C5R block or a Darton Wet MID sleeved block to avoid potential problems that are fairly common with dry sleeved set ups.

We've done many re-sleeved motors and never had a leak or a return. I can provide referrences

Our 427's go thru the Darton Wet MID sleeve process. C5R's are pretty expensive. The LS2 block might be a different story, but for now the wet sleeved blocks are where it's at.

Check out the #'s from our 427 Z06

Here's a little poll data collect on sleeved motors...majority of the data is on dry set ups. I know the results aren't prefect but I think a clear trend has developed that shows if a sleeved motor will be prone of have issues it will do so before 2000 miles most of the time. All the issues listed are with dry sleeves.

While only 8 people with ARE set ups voted 3 of them had issues with their sleeved block according to one of the polls. IMO shows the ARE dry sleeve blocks are not problem free either. ARE dry's do seem to be better than the others drys sleeves.

ARE has a well known, well earned rep for the most horrific customer service which is a good reason to avoid ARE products IMO.

The LS2 block would be pretty nice if it will work with LS1 style heads.

Email or call JAYSON at MTI as MTI now uses the new DARTON wet sleeves and they will build you a kick azz motor all with a 2 year 24K mile warranty and not to mention with the reputation of a top tuner that has been around for 10 years. MTI just built me my c5r based 427 2000 miles ago and the motor is simply kick but and is a blast to drive on the streets and highways and should be a terror at the track when i get to run it next season after the Chicago winter!!!

Best of luck!!!!

We were just in GM High Tech for our 427CI 725HP C5R. Check out our website for more information or you can email. We never have had any problems as we use GM C5R Blocks, Lunati Parts, JE Parts and all of the best.

Thank You,

IMO, based on experience...bite the bullet and get the C5-R block. It's worth the peace of mind and you'll get the diff back on resale. Stay away from dry sleeved blocks...I cannot speak to the Darton wet sleeves.

Pics below...
