Default Need some advice help plz

ok now is the time i decided to get a cam i have saved up my money and i have about $1,200+ dollars to blow (going to do it right) decided to go with the 224 Cam i was looking at the ThunderRacing cam swap package

Thunder Racing LS1 Cam Swap Package Includes:
- 224/224 .561/.561 114
- Comp Cams 26918 Valve Springs
- Comp Cams 772 Titanium Retainers ($100 Additional) (going to get them)
- Thunder Racing Stock Length Pushrods (7.400) (ChromeMoly)
- Cam Swap Gasket Kit (Specify Year of Car) (2002)
$799.00

OR

The Texas Speed & Performace Package
- TSP Custom 224 Cam 224/224 .566"/.566" 114 LSA
- Comp Cams 26918-16 valve springs
- Comp Cams 772-16 titanium retainers
- TSP 7.40" Chromemoly Pushrods
$839.00
Plus i dont think the TSP kit comes with a gasket kit so thats another $35
Basic Camshaft Bolt & Gasket Kit $34.99

I know there both VERY similiar if not exact but what would you do? Is there another shop that sells a better cam swap package? Am i missing anything? Should i get a new timming set? some info would be greatly appreiciated

P.S. This car is basicaly my daily driver so has to pass emissions current mods are in sig plus i will be getting SLP Subframe connectors, BMR Strut Tower Brace, GM 3.73 Gears and Bauer Ported and Powdercoated TB in the near future.

Thanks
~Tom

Get the thunder kit. Only get a new timing chain if you want it. Your car is still pretty new so I wouldn't bother with one.

ok 1 more question thunder racing site says the 224 cam has a redline of 6600 do i need to replace any valve train componets besides the ones i am getting cause 6600 RPMs seems like a lot even though i wouldnt take it up that high anyway i just want to get everything i need and do it right the first time. is there going to be any valve float?

Thanks

What's your end-game? Besides staying emissions-worthy like you mentioned, would you characterize your target as simply making as much power as possible (e.g. drag racing), do you autocross, or is there something else you have in mind? Knowing this will help the responses people here give you be more accurate. If you haven't actually stopped and thought about it, take a day or two and imagine what your nirvana looks like. I know I've been guilty a time or two of expending more effort spending my hotrod bucks than I spent thinking about what I was trying to accomplish. After a few misfires (pun intended) you tend to get a little more focus.

well i was thinking about just doing a heads/cam car but then i thought to myself i would probably want more power (because i am never satisfied) so i am leaning toward a Supercharged car i am just getting some info and prices down and exploring my options right now...but the SC car i guess i would need some low compression heads and a blower cam so i am looking into that now

I went with the same Thunder Kit you showed above only with a 112 LSA. The kit includes everything you need and saves you some $$ too. The TR224 will peak around 6100-6300 rpms and for max power you would want to shift 300 rpms above that so figure shifting at 6500rpms for best results.
