Default Take a look at this 243 heads!!!!

I just got these. I was told it was off a 05/06 vette.
I was told they were 205 valves also. I put a straight
edge ruler on the valve and it was like 2". is that a 205 valve??

can anyone tell what size chambers these have. I want to pick
up a 05 or newer 6.0 to put these on!!. Thanks.

They look like bone stock 243's. LS6 springs, so he didn't have a cam in it. The casting lines in the intake runner are obvious and the rocker bolt boss is untouched so the runners are stock. If they have 2.05 valves he probably hurt the performance of the head. They look like stock 2.00 valves though.

What did this guy tell you they were?

For what its worth, don't lay heads face down on any surface other than a clean engine block if you can help it. They probably need a cleanup mill so you are safe until you do that.

They are bone stock. But I did not think they had 205 valves.
Im thinkin it was an 05 not an 06

I was not going to complain for $300.00

So Do I need to take these to a machine shop to find out what
size chambers I have??

I take it these would be worth porting with someone like AI right??

That's a good price. They are likely stock 65cc chambers. There are a lot of people out there who can port them. It will come down to how much you want to spend and how long you can wait. I can make some recommendations if I knew those answers.

I just want 400 RWHP. I'll be happy with that. M/6 behind the 6.0
This is what I want to use for an intake. This is for my 71 camaro

If you want a simple 400rwhp behind a 6.0, you don't need a lot of money in the 243's. A valve job and a blend. Well, the RIGHT valve job. I can pm you the cutter numbers and you can see if any machine shops in your area have them, they are off the shelf cutters. Then have them do a proper blend into the bowl. I would need to know the runner length on that intake to even start recommending a cam.

Why not? Risk of scratching the surface or is there something else to this? I'm asking because I just bought some new LS3 heads and would like to be sure that I'm not doing something that might cause me problems down the road.

I got some heads back from my local machine shop several years back and when he brought them out to me he stood them on end. I was looking them over and laid them on the deck surface of the counter and he freaked out! I had a 10 minute lecture about doing anything to the face of the head. Its probably overkill, but you could possibly run the risk of scratching a "perfect" finish and maybe 1 out of 10,000 times it could cause a leak or something. You may end up picking up grains of sand or grit on it that you arent going to see and it will just get stuck inbetween the head and gasket...potentially.

I just mentioned it because its something to consider thinking about.

If you just want 400whp then you dont even have to get the heads worked. Have them cleaned, checked for cracks or problems, maybe mill them, new valve springs and put the engine together. My ls6 with stocks heads, bolt ons and cam made 403rwhp with a 232/232 600/600 114 cam.
