Default Oil Filter for a 4.8 Liter

Ok, I know a lot about the LS motors, but the truck stuff is still sorta foreign to me. I want to run the biggest filter possible on my RCSB. Can I use a filter for a 6.0? I am sure people do it, but I just dont want to make 2 trips to O'Reillys if I don't have to since its about 20 miles round trip. The current filter that is on there when i bought the truck looks freakin' small. Part numbers would also help quite a bit. I'm not about to ask over on PT because there are less users over there and this forum sees a lot more traffic. I am 95% sure that I can run a bigger filter, but someone help me out here!

Was thinking that I could run the Wix 51522, but ofcourse if it isnt what the computer tells the sales guy...then that is not what he will suggest.

What's the stock wix number? I have the 5.3 in my truck and wanted to do the same as I have plenty of clearance.

PF61 (Ac Delco) is the long filter like mentioned above. PF46 (Ac Delco) is the short one.

Yeah I pulled a pf46 AC Delco off last night when I changed it. Now I rock the Anti-Drain back valve in the Wix 51522. MUCH BETTER!

FWIW: Oil is expensive *****! 58$ out the door with M1 Synthetic and a Wix filter. FML...

Wonder if this filter can be run on its side as well? The 3.6 V6 in my new Malibu uses the same filter as the truck.

lol i bought mobile 1 once............. once.

Castrol GTX 5 gallon jugs for 13 bucks plus 1 extra quart for like 3 bucks for me now and oil change is no more then 20 bucks with a pf61... I just dont buy into the synthetic hype. Ive run GTX in almost every engine ive owned with no problems.

Yeah that is expensive lol. Not that i believe in buying anything from walmart, but they do have the best prices on mobil 1 that ive seen. Check them out next time you go to buy oil i wanna say a 4 qt jug is around $20-$25.

Yeah, I usually get it there, but it was a dollar difference when i had my wife check earlier that morning when she was there. Oil goes up and down way to much these days thanks to the world's sweet economies.

I wasnt about to have her buy me the wrong oil and filter. lol!
