Call Texas Speed and ask them about the PRC Stage 2.5 5.3L heads. These should work well with what you are doing.
Also look at getting the heads milled a bit to up the CR and give you a few a bit more HP.
Good Luck!!!

What about the PRC Stage 1.0 243s, they are rated to flow 292cfm at .500 lift and don't really lose bottom end and cost under your budget.
I'm wondering what the pos/neg aspects are of going with the stage 1.0 243s and the 5.3 2.5s, the chart on TSP has 1-3cfm in favor of the stage 1.0s I purchased?

The stage 1.0 243's come standard with .500 lift single valve springs. The stage 2 5.3's come standard with duel valvesprings rated to .650. The 1.0s upgraded with duel valvesprings are $1450-not quite the bargain.
There might be a slight ptv advantge with the 1.0s if you were to run a large cam. But I wouldnt think that would be a factor with a 224 duration cam.
