hey everyone after blowing my ls1 on start up i have purchased an lq4 and am about to do a complete rebuild. this is my first ls buid so im looking for tips and suggestions. im using the front drive off the ls1 and know about the alt bracket. using fuel system off ls1 along with oil pan. the lq4 was a flood motor has good compression and turns over with no catches, has 317 stamped heads im planning on tr230 cam.are there any cheap rebuild kits out there? also anything else i may be missing? thank you all for all your help

Do some searching through the forums, I'm too looking into building my first ls based engine.

There is plenty of info through out this site. I've learned a lot doing a bit of reading the past few days.

But considering the cost of a full rebuild, I/you could just get a lq4 crate motor for little over 3k and slap a H/C setup on it with a carb/ or your efi setup and be rolling.

 

I'm in the exact same boat, except I'm going with a 228 cam. The tech help on the LQ4 and LQ9 is very limited and kinda pain to research. Soul tkr on the forum has an LQ4 in his T/A and loves it, you might try pm-ing him and ask where you should go. He's helped me with a few questions I've ahd about mine.

 

what made you dicide on that cam? mine will be a dd car id just like a little more ***** then stock and trad good things on the tr230 but like i said im open to ideas
