Question Oil consumption issue's

Ok here goes, I have done a search for this problem, but I will ask this anyways to see what you all may have for me.
I went on leave from LR, AR to KC, MO about a 376mi trip one way or 6hrs. While on my leave before coming to the desert I lost about 3 qts. of oil in about a 2000miles or so of driving, most of it was easy driving at a constant 70mph. I got mad one day and decided to go for a spin. About a day later low oil light came on and I had to fill the car with 3 qts. I don't have any leaks anywhere, but I had a little build up on my TB before I ported it. My question is this 1) when I get back I have to install my cam a 224/581 114lsa, while I'm doing this should I change my stock lifters out to some stronger one's? In hope's of stopping the blow by or does it sound like I have a bigger problem? I don't feel any loss of power and the car dynoed strong about 2 month's before this at 314.2 rwhp and 322.6 rwtq standard, with no mods and M6.
Thanks for any help fella's
Brandon

The lifters wont make any difference in oil consumption that I'm aware of, but it you have the engine apart and want to spend the money it wont hurt. Do you have blue smoke coming out of the exhaust? If so you should have a compression-leakdown test done and check the rings out. Could also be the famous LS1 oil eating syndrome, in which case you can try installing an external catch can on the PVC system, and optionally install the LS6 breather system.

Or maybe time for a resleave-383 all-bore kit! See, we're full of solutions here! Seriously, my engine used about a quart every 1200 miles before I installed the LS6 PCV system.

Cool thanks for the info guys, as for the boreing I don't have the cash yet for that big of a job. But hopefuly by summer I will have the cash for a new LS6 intake w/o the EGR/AIR system. I don't have any blue smoke comming out nor can you smelll it either so I know it's not the rings, That was the only time it has done it as well, I drove back to LR and it was fine when I got back and it hasn't happened since I left 2 months ago so hopefully I can try the catch can and the PVC mod. I miss my car too
