head port question

head port question Wondering how different lsx heads are to port compared to other non ls heads. There is a local shop that does excellent port work on sbc, bbc, fox's, etc and had nice flow numbers on the first set of 243's they did, but have not seen track/dyno results from the heads. Is it that different or not really? They flowed over 300cfm at 600 and will be into the heads for under a grand.

All I an say is that I have fought this fight and I was very disappointed with the heads and performance of my heads when they where done. the guy is very good with SBC heads but he had little experience with the LSx heads. Again you can do what you want but it can always come back bite you in the *** and spend way more. Have the heads shipped to TEA, AI or any reputable shop that has a good track record with LSx heads.

You either have to be talking about standard or Baskos, Both I think are around $500 ported with a vj and mill. Most I would ever let either do is a vj and mill for compression. From every porting pro I have spoken to these cathy port heads are definately way different than anything else, lots of r and d to figure out why GM engineered them the way they did and how to make improvements that actually work vs just hogging em out. Having a hard time deciding whether or not to have either standard are baskos do a 5 angle and deck for 300ish. Or just have B&B do a three angle and mill em for 150ish. Any insights?
