Default question for engine builders dealing with boost

i'm buyin a 402 forged shortblock and the plan next year is to put a supercharger on it. since i'll be running rings for boost, should i just wait to get the supercharger to even start the engine or should i run it N/A to get everything seated and break it in?

It wont matter how you run the engine as far as the rings are concerned but the gap should be set for the power adder later on since you can't change that once it's together.

^ No, set the gaps and running it would be the most cost effective option.

KN-

Way to kick *** and dream big It'll be fine to drive it until the S/C goes on just not optimal because of the low compression and I assume boost cam.. Just make sure you can realistically afford to boost it because when I was looking at cars over 3 years a go I drove 2 with boost built motors that the guys could never finish and both were less than impressive......

Sorry to jack the thread but BV but where are you on your build? I haven't seen any updates on your thread recently........

yeah i've looked at the cost of everything and yeah it'll actually be next year when i get my S/C it sucks but it's what i have to do to pay for it. yeah it'll be a 9.5 to 1 compression iron 402 with a custom spec'd boost cam from predatorZ with some nice stage 2 243 heads on it and a roots style blower on top nothing big just a 2300
what are you talkin about no updates lol i just posted some pics of my axle on a jack the other day!!!!!! check in the racers lounge for my thread engine is coming out of the SS
