Uuuuuuhh....I would seriously think about revisiting the tune.

Why wouldn't the same results happen again with a "tune-up" and a new plug?? What has changed to prevent that from happening (answer....nothing)

Obviously its lean and very likely detonating in the number 7 cylinder which has been the death knoll for more LS engines than you can shake a stick at.

Do you have irreversible engine damage now? Probably not, but get on the chassis dyno (or street with a wideband) and check your timing and A/F ratios and if your borderline fatten it up some and reduce some ignition timing.

What if the current tune is 31 degrees of lead and your A/F ratio at 6500 is 14.2 to 1

Tune up or no tune up you will rattle and loose that plug electrode again of your lucky....if your unlucky a piece of the #7 ringland will come off the next time along with it.

Address the problem....without doing so the same end results or worse are inevidably going to ruin your day

-Tony

Tony, the car is being completely reflashed to a stock 2001 tune, and im going to tune it in SD.
the tune was fucked for a while, and the car sat for about a year.
this time the fueling will be dialed in before its blindly tuned and VE/PE tables are "raped" as some would say

Didn't know about the modified comment... posted that after I gave the simple solution.
Tune it up and tune it.

let me ask you this, do you have the LS6 coolant lines and plugs? with the rears plugged, the #7 hole tends to get hot. try and get a laser thermometer and check the temperature of the primaries and see if your lean issue on that hole is being caused by heat. if so, you may want to consider switching back to the LS1 style coolant tubes.

its an LS1. im discovering tons of crazy issues right now that the cars apart, one of the header emissions flangess was cracked, so im sure that was great. spark plugs = no bueno, some oil flange was unplugged. no idea what it was. tune = WAY off, car had a wideband that was off b/c once i plugged it the thing was B L A C K & covered with sut. the car is getting a minor transformation right now, and will be tuned CORRECTLY this time. the car will be gtg once i get it all buttoned up

i cant believe that people saying to throw plugs at it and drive it. #7 is very lean causing increased combustion chamber temps. You need to revisit the tune or check your fuel pressure. #7 tends to be the leanest cylinder on these engines and if you continue to run like this you run the risk of inflicting the same to the piston. Do you have a wideband?

Pull the head off and find the piece of electrode and then check the cylinder bores for scratches. Then put in 42lbs and convert to E85

i see that you are running TR6 plugs vs TR55. you know the TR6 are gapped at 0.35 vs the TR55 gapped at 0.60. is there any reason you went with the colder plug? if you have stock heads and no power adder, there is no reason to run a smaller gap.

i could definitly run 7s when i get the tune right. i dont think 6's are guna make getting the car running right NA that much harder. im reflashing a stock tune and starting from scratch. no spray for a while.
