Crunching doesn't sound normal. Do they have snap rings you could remove and disassemble one that makes this sound? The trunion would need to be pressed out/in.

when you originally assembled the engine and checked your pushrod length with the 11 dollar tool is that the length pushrod you shouldve used?

I used the 11dollar tool and I'm running the correct pushrods.

Have you checked your rocker arms? I took mine off and hand rotated each one. It turned out that 3 of the 16 were 'not right'. They were tougher to turn. The rocker should spin effortlessly on the trunion. I recommend starting there since they are so easy to access. I'd also check all pushrods for straightness while they are out.

If those two items are fine, then you might have to look into bearings- cam/rod/main. I don't know what else it could be.

Good luck

He figured it out... Too much clearance between cylinder walls and pistons... His piston skirts are all chewed up, the cylinder walls as well. I think the clearance was like .012" or something ridiculous like that.

I'm starting to lean towards the lifters on mine. Going to wait until I change heads before doing just the lifters.

He has a warranty on the motor, so he sent it all back and it's getting fixed. Til then, he'll be running stock bottom end h/c.
