I bought my motor ('04 Corvette) 2 summers ago and it has been sitting in the garage since then. I have not cracked it open at all except removing the intake, alternator etc.

I've pulled the oil pan and it appears to still be "wet" inside with oil and such.

I probly won't start it for a few more months until I buy rod bolts and heads.

Should I squirt the cylinders with oil or something to prevent any problems?

 

yes .

 

ATF is best for cylinders while its sitting. squirt a little in each cylinder and roll it over a few times.

that being said, my dad's BBC 402 sat for about 6 years without being turned over or even having anything put in the cylinders. (this was a fresh engine 6 years ago) i had a day here recently on the engine dyno's here at school and decided to bring it up and dyno it.

we put it right on the dyno, squirted some ATF in each hole and fired it right up. not a spit or sputter. with shitty headers, (1 3/4 with 2.5 inch collectors, very very small for a big block) a carb out of tune, a mild cam and edelbrock TBI heads, it made 420 horse and 460 ftlbs. came right out of hibernation for 6 years and ran like a champ.
