Cam Motion Cams, Any Good?
My car is a street car that sees very little track time. I am looking at getting a cam and was wondering if anybody has any experiences with Cam Motion cams specifically the 220/224 114+4 .544/544. I want a torquey cam that is fun on the street and easy on springs. PS car has to pass the sniffer. Any help would be appreciated as I can't find much info.

I run a cam motion 221/226 in my truck. Fun and torquey. Why are you not looking at the custom cam route? The cam you listed looks to be a bit dated for what cam grinders experience has revealed in the last few years.

Yeah I will probably go custom, but I have been looking at these cams for a while. Seems most everybody runs comp cams and was wondering how these Cam motion cams compared.

Most everyone runs Comp for a reason. Id stick with what is proven and works, no experience with cam motion but a custom grind comp cam will not do you wrong.

I do agree that a cam with a newer and more aggressive lobe will give better results and they should be able to help you with that as well. Give them a call and let them spec one out for you to meet your specific needs.

I use cam motion all the time. They have some of the best lobe designs out there, bar none. If it's up to me, every car I build would get a cam motion cam. However some people feel more comfortable going with what they know or what's been advertised more (Comp).

Contact Geoff at EPS, see what he recommends, or get one of his regular grinds, a 222(.597") /226(.598") , 113 lsa .

Futral Motorsports, has the FMS- F2-114 , 224"/224" .588"/.588" 114LSA, they also do custom grinds.

So do you feel that Cam Motion will have the same long term reliability and quality as comp?

Regardless, I have a custom cam from Cam Motion (232/236 .595/.595 w/110+4). I just installed it in the motor and the motors going in within the week. I'll let you know how it does, but from what I've read/seen/been told Cam Motion is THE BEST when it comes to cams. MUCH better than some off the shelf crap from Comp or whoever. Takes a couple weeks, but so what?

They had some issues a way back with the material they were using with their cores, but all that has since been taken care of. I've probably installed 20 Cam Motion cams the past 2-3 years, and some cars have put over 20,000 miles on the setups with no issues.
Nothing wrong with Comp if you go with somebody like Geoff @ EPS that uses a better lobe design, but Cam Motion is definitely in the top of the stack somewhere..
