Default 799 Bare heads

What all do I need for these heads? Sorry for the newb question maybe I just suck at searching but I cant find the answer. This will be going along with the 228r cam from TSP as well as pushrods. I was thinking about going with the Patriot Performance LS Series Gold Dual Spring Kit, .650. Which include titanium retainers, machined bases, Super 7 locks and Viton rubber intake and exhaust seals. What would be some good valves to use with these heads? What else am I missing?

Thanks!

Ferrea makes a great valve...but they are pricey. Manley too. You could probably just get a stock LS1 set of valves and get a good valve job to keep costs down. A set of LS6 valves are also a good option. No matter what you put in, you will need to grind them...otherwise they won't seal properly.

You will need a set of stock valves that are back cut so they seal properly. If you are intending on buying a cam from us then you might take a look at our cam packages. They will get you set up with PRC dual valve springs, hardened pushrods, and the cam for a discounted package price. Beyond those parts you would just need a gasket set to get you going again. Good luck with the build.

Thanks for the fast responses! Yes I was thinking about the tsp cam package but what about the retainers and such? Would I need to buy those again or could I take them from my stock heads? I just want to make sure that I have all the parts needed for this lol

If you go with a Comp or Pac beehive spring then you will use the stock retainers. PRC dual springs will come with seats, seals, and retainers.

5.3lJimmy is correct, our PRC dual springkit will come with new titanium retainers, seats, and seals specific to the kit. You can carry over your stock locks.

How does a back cut help the valve seal? I'm under the impression that a back cut on a valve is above the seat cut, which is what seals the port from the combustion chamber, while the back cut influences flow characteristics.

Would this be correct I would need 1.550 valves for exhaust and then 2.000 for the intake? I am considering getting manley just because I cannot really find any other ones. Is getting stainless steel valves worth the price difference?

Thanks!
