Default AFR205 or PP 243?

Lets start with assuming money is not the deciding factor!!
With my size cam (228-230 588-590 112)what would be the better choice AFR205's or PP 243's and why?
Remember this car is a DD and is driven everyday!!
Thanks

I am on my second set of heads and went with the AFR's (which are what I had originally wanted). I like the double quench pad and with a Cometic gasket the tuner could introduce plenty of timing without any KR. He found he could add timing to the point where there was no gain and so backed off for a very safe street tune. I also liked the thicker deck. The AFR's, assuming equal milling, provide more valve drop that could mean the difference between flycutting and not flycutting. AFR has also shown itself to stand behind their product. Not trying to pimp the AFR's, just providing the logic I went through when I made my selection.

If you have the money AFR's all day long. They don't get much better and youll never have to worry about maxing them out unless you go nuts. The 243s will hit a barrier way before the AFR's.

I don't know that I would say WAY before...there are some 243's that are making very nice power, while saving him nearly enough to add a FAST. 243's + FAST to me, would pretty much equal AFR + LS6 intake. Personally if I were going ported 243's, I'd take a hard look at Advanced Induction.

Just my $0.02, especially since this is a daily driver type street car and I'm sure you don't want to sink a butt load of $$ into it.

I am another very satisfied AFR owner. Like Vettenuts stated, AFR offers some nice benefits that a stock casting just doesn't have.

Another thing about the AFRs performance wise, is the part throttle sotp feel and throttle response that they give you due to the high air speed of the 205 runner. You may have a ported stock casting that can put up similar peak numbers, but the power on the street when just driving around will not feel as peppy as the AFRs due to the smaller intake runner design. It's not always about volume, air speed plays a major role.

With all that said, I ran my AFRs with a 228/230 on a 114 and ran 11.20s@122 at nearly full weight. This was also with an LS6 intake and -16rwhp tune for nitrous. Never got the chance to try and squeeze the car into the 10s due to #7 letting go.

I've been running AFR 205s with a 224/228 .600 .600 on a 114+4 but I just had Tony port them along with my Fast intake. Also switched to a 227/230 .613 .591 on a 113+2. Should have some new numbers this week.
