Cam shake
Cam shake I just finished my cam and supporting mods install, and all went great. First start up was awesome, car idled fine and didnt die once. Sounded amazing too, Im still smiling ear to ear. My question is though, is that my motor was shaking in rhythem with the cam very violently. I know some shake with a bigger cam is normal, but even my exhaust was shaking like crazy too. Is it normal to shake violently or could my motor mounts need upgrading? Also, is installing new motor mounts a tough job? Any write ups on it?
If your cam has a decent amount of overlap, then the engine/exhaust shaking is to be expected. Motor mounts are generally considered to be helpful, as stock rubber mounts just won't cut it if your cam like to rock the motor.
I believe most go with poly mounts for a street car and solid mounts for a track-oriented car (although some like the solids for the street). Personally, I just picked up some prothane poly mounts this week.
As for the install, I'll actually have the motor/trans out of the car, so it should be cake, but I've heard it's a HUGE PITA to do it with the motor in the vehicle.

That makes me feel better that its common. I plan to get it tuned soon, so I'll see if that helps some. Hopefully it will because that mount write up looks like a pita! Thanks for posting it, ill def refer to it if I do decide to change mounts. My cam is the 233/239 .598 .603 cam from TSP. Its shaking my true duals pretty violently too. I love the sound of this cam though.
