you mite want to mill the heads to bump up the compression.would it be cheaper to buy a head/cam combo from TSP?

Well in my case i am gettin these brand new 317s for 200 bucks, so no, this is cheaper. but i am sticking with 243 heads so dont have to have custom rods made. I am trying to build a more street, daily driver friendly setup

Custom Rods? If you're talking about pushrods, they make different length pushrods for ls1's. AKA 7.4's aren't your only choice, that is unless you already bought them.

With a cam that size for a streetcar you really need to bring the compression up to about 11:1 to get some bottom end torque back into the motor.

Having custom pushrods made isnt a hard thing to get done so dont sweat that.

If you havent already bought the 317's, keep that money and put it into making the 243's better.

thats my plan, polish out the 243's run PAT G cam, which looks to be awesome, or tsp torquer2 or 233/239 cam. both should get me to 400 or better on both numbers
