Default any real difference between TSP228R and TSP224R?

hey guys. my question is just like the title says. is there any real performance advantage in the TSP228 over the TSP224 cam. both have the same lift (.581) will the 228 require more tuning on an automatic car? i haven't seen much about the 228 cam, so i'm asking. thanks guys

not much if you already have the 224R. if your deciding between the two the 228 will make more peak hp but from 5k and under they'll run within a few hp of each other.

I'd say you would have the exact same curve as the 224, just 5-8 rwhp higher. If you did a 228/224, you would have the same down low graph, and pick up 5-8 rwhp at 5k+.

We've picked up 7rwhp going from a 224R to a 228R, I prefer the 228 if it was my car, but you pretty much will like either one IMHO

You are going to have to tune either cam. From what I have read our cpu will only compensate up to a 220. Hell, even my little cam needed some tuning. My A/F was like 13.8 to 13.4. I dropped it to 12.8 to be safe and gain 10 or so hp. Remember, the TSP 224R uses the XE-R lobe which is much more aggressive than the XE low and high lift grind.
