I use 5w-30 synthetic "royal purple" The only thing I like about royal purple is the added horsepower. Royal purple seems to sludge the engine up a little bit, and since its purple it never really looks "clean" its really preferance. As far as a clean engine inside, castrol oil will keep the oil crystal clean better than any other oil as far as my experience goes. I'm a mechanic, and change oil frequently. change your oil every 3000 and youll be fine.

I never liked Mobil 1 5W30 so I purchased Royal Purple 5W30. I didn't really like it either. After some research and what people report after laboratory testing Mobil 5W30 is actually a 20 weight when the oil heats up. I'm running Castrol Syntec 0W30 and so far so good. I am also at 40 PSI at idle at operating temperature. Before I would always seem to hit jus' below the 40 dial with the other oils.

Ya those same engineers installed the little 7.625 10-bolt rear end in our cars. Knowing some of them would see Drag radials and track time. So please dont act like GMs engineering staff cant be second guessed.

BTW I use German Castrol it seems to be doing good for me so fare. I also noticed Ive had a slight bump in oil pressure at idle and a reduction in oil consumption since switching to it.

usually mobil 1, but I run across amazing sales frequently, so I switch to other things.

also, Mobil 1 is recommend because GM has a stake in Mobil and because it makes people think 0o0o0oh it REQUIRES expensive synthetic, like I own a friggin lambo.

I've been running Mobile 1 Synthetic 10w-30 during the Spring/Summer and then 5w-30 during the fall for cooler weather.

mobile 1 5w-30 always! Royal purple is over priced and to me doesnt do much of a difference then mobile 1 and like stated above, it is what GM says to run.

I used to run mobil 1 and I think it was to thin. I switched to amsoil and it hold good oil about 50psi at idle warm and when i been running it hard it idles right at 40psi. I usally run either a mobil 1 filter or the ac delco if thst matters much lol

I get penzoil platinum free at my work and change my oil about every 1500 miles if that. Penzoil platinum is actually some really good stuff and the price is reasonable.
