Default Head bolts?

My question is why in the hell would somebody use threadlocker on headbolts?
My bro took the heads off of his ws6 and they were a bitch to get out. Thought they were stripped but once we got the bolts out we seen that they had threadlocker on them. What a PITA to clean that crap out of the block!
Anybody ever seen this, or is it just me?

shouldnt be thread locker. the stock bolts and the gm bolts you buy, have sealant on them, and its blue. so u might be mistaking it for that? maybe it is locker.. idk i noticed my new bolts from tsp had it on em, its in dry form.

At first I was thinking that but this stuff was red and very hard.

These bolts were a bitch all the way to the last thread to get out, not just a few turns.

ARP head bolts went back in after cleaning everything up.

Wow. I have never seen that before. I have used the ARP stuff that they send with their studs/bolts though.

Thread locker doesn't make it hard to pull a bolt all the way out. Once you break it free it should back out normally. It sounds like you ran into some sort of thicker sealant that hardened.

I will have to post a few pic's when I get a chance. I have seen some bolts from gm that have the orange sealant on them. This was nowhere close to that. I have taken other bolts out from previous experience's and this did look like thread locker. Tho it was only on the bigger diameter head bolts, the smaller ones towards the top of the heads came right out with no problem.
