Default anyone running this cam: Comp Cams 54-412-11

I have a basic bolt on (my signature) 02 Camaro Z28 6 speed manual. I need a tune as I just dyno'd 323hp/335tq running rich per dyno pulls at RET this weekend (great shop!!!).
After a tune with this cam, anyone have feedback if they've run this setup or very similar. My exhaust is quite docile so should keep noise to a minimum.
I assume drive-ability and mpg's should remain unchanged with a tune.
Any feedback, even youtube videos, greatly appreciated.

Each to their own, but I think I would go with a slightly larger cam. That's a baby cam.

LOL, I do appreciate your feedback. Actually, you make feel better saying that cause I'm not looking for an aggressive cam, just a few extra ponies to wheels with a tune. I know an LS6 cam is too small but for me and for the work involved, this is just right size I believe.

Anyone else can chime in?

No, I don't. The cam I mentioned is the only one I'll consider as I have a deal on it...otherwise I'd just stay as is with a tune.

I don't mean to cut off your suggestion, I'd still like to hear your opinion...that's just where I stand and thus getting feedback on that specific one. I do appreciate you asking and taking an interest.

If you are looking for a nice cam thats easy on springs and will pass any sniffer
test and if your looking a torquey cam than go for it. Not everyone likes big cams.
This cam will give you about 30 rwhp and still have nice street manners. But like stated
earlier to each is own.

Glad you mentioned springs...I'm going to throw on some LS6 valve springs just so some of the valve train is a bit fresher/stronger.

But yea, 30 whp is what I'm looking for but just as equally "nice" on the street. If it wasn't my DD I may look to a more aggressive cam but otherwise this is the case.

Thanks for the $.02

After you go through all the trouble to put that cam in, you are going to wish you went bigger.

Doesn't matter how much power you've got. You always want more.

I appreciate your feedback and advice but I assure you I'll be fine with this power. You're concreting that this cam is small enough to have an "urge" for more power yet still enough to notice a difference (not a big one) but, like mentioned above, about 30 ponies to the wheel.
You've all given me peace of mind. Thanks!

Looks like -13° of overlap so it will have a faint chop to it, but if you have a pretty tame exhaust it will probably only be noticeable to people who are looking for it. As opposed to the LS6 cam which has a -23° valve overlap.

It's true after you have the cam for awhile you might want bigger, but just remember,
once you start going over 218 degrees on the intake side you'll need good tuning or you'll
have surge and even stalling. Even in an M6. And you'll definately have stalling in a A4.
Plus once you raise the idle on a A4 car and you have your stock converter, the car will
try and push through the brakes. Not a fun feeling. But you're an M6 so no problem.

^^^ Thats true. Plus if you are getting a cam, period, a tune should be the next thing on your mind.

Im working on installing this very cam in my car. I know its a "baby" cam, but I didn't want anything too aggressive where i'd have reliability issues. If you look at.the dyno sheet, the torque curve is near identical to stock, except with 30 more HP. As for springs, I'm running the 6.1 hemi valve springs. Really good oem springs, and they drop in. I think it's a good choice for a reliable daily driver, as it will be easy on the valvetrain and components. Just buy the dang can and put it in!!

Hey, Let me know how yours goes! I agree with you...nothing too aggressive at all, just a nice 30hp kick. I have an M6 and stock gears, and its a DD car so this setup will not be too intense at all for the street as others above have mentioned.

The cam is not going in until I have $ for the tune, but yes, I am getting it tuned within a week of installation. I'll have a shop tune, I know of HPTuners but not enough to tune this.
This turned out to be a great thread...thanks!

I'm right in the middle of the install, got it tore down and the springs changed over so far. I've got some bbk lt's to put on as well. The guy at comp said this cam could run with a stock tune, but I'm gonna get rid of my egr, air, and cats so I'm gonna get all that removed and tuned at the same time. I'll hafta get a video of it idling up when I'm done, since no one else has it seems!

Yea, Ive looked for videos...Far and few between. Some trucks on youtube had the cam (I think) so I heard it, it was mellow and nice.

Get some pics of the install, tear down etc.
