CAN You Run LG G5X3 Cam with Patriot
ALMOST CERTAIN I have these Patriots heads (The LQ9's): Got them in 2004! Also had an engine blew and they got dammaged a bit so had my HEADS fixed at Kim Barr Racing Engines in Dallas in November 2005.
He did the following:
Full Radius Valve Job
Surface Square
Repaired the Chamber and added Viton Seals.
These are the heads I have:
Patriot Performance Part Number:2033
Our custom 5 axis CNC machined GM castings make these heads a must have for any performance oriented GM LS series engine. These heads provide up to a 65 cfm improvement over stock OEM versions. The 59cc chambers (achieved by milling), will increase the compression on a stock LS1 from 10-1 to 11-1. The Stage II heads feature 21-4N 2.055”/1.57” stainless steel valves.
Technical Specs:
Combustion Chamber: 59cc
Intake Runner: 227cc
Exhaust Runner: 70cc
Intake Valve: 2.055"
Exhaust Valve: 1.57"
Max. Valve Spring Lift: 0.650"
Spring Pressure Closed: 135 lbs. @ 1.800"
Spring Pressure Open: 375 lbs. @ 1.090"
Retainer Material: Titanium
Valve Seal Material: Viton
Valve Guide Material: Manganese Bronze
Valve Job: 5-angle
Looking at a G5X3 Cam:
WILL these PATRIOT Heads be OK with the LG G5X3 Cam or will fly cutting be required?
I am thinking of ditching these heads and getting some new ones. AFR's? These heads are old and the older ones had some issues and MINE had to be repaired so who knows how good they are after all this time?

I am not a wrench head, when it comes to the engine part of the car.
Is this easy to do? When they are swapping out the cam Do they turn it by hand and then measure everything and make sure everything clears the pistons?

Take a set of calipers and measure from the deck surface of the head to the valve cover rail. I believe 4.750" is the oem measurement, if it's less than this they have been milled. Some patriot heads used welded up combustion chambers to get to 59cc's, so if you are around 4.750" you may be ok.
