Default Autometer Tach only reading half-of actual RPM

So i just got done installing a tach, and for some reason the tach is only reading half of the actual RPM? My stock tachometer is showing 1000 rpm but the autometer is showing 500rpm.. Anyone know? i wired the "green" wire which is supposed to get a tach signal into pin #10 which is the "Engine Speed Signal" pin on the ECM. what am i doing wrong here?

Sorry if this is the wrong section.. I know it doesnt exactly belong here, but i thought id get a more ... "competent" answer

ALSO, really, REALLY, REALLY strange.. for some reason before i started the car.. the Autometer tach sort of jumped to 1500 rpm and stayed there.. and when i was adjusting my driver seat foward... the tach started moving... everytime i moved the seat. wtf?

is it haunted?
