Default Did I damage something? (idiot inside)

First off, yes I know I'm a idiot, and cant believe I did this....

I was in the middle of changing my oil the other day when a neighbor stops by to check out the new car (the TA). Well we get to bull shitting as I'm finishing up and i proceed to close the hood and put her away for the night. The following day, i have a few spirited WOT pulls on the way to work, as well as home (enjoying finally being in an F-Body again ).

That evening i pop the hood to install the new plugs and wires i bought for her. My jaw hits the floor, as well as the ratchet i was holding when i see the oil funnel still in the fill neck, and the oil cap wedged between the battery and inner fender. HOW THE F&#K COULD I HAVE BEEN SO CARELESS???

Now I'm noticing the oil pressure is running in the 55-60 PSI while warm and at idle and i can't honestly remember what it was before this, but i don't believe it was this high..... did i damage / could i have damaged something?

The valve tick is a little louder that i remember but that would just be my paranoia. Oil level is fine, and there is no apparent change in the way shes running. Sorry for the long post, and thanks in advance for what i should do/check, if anything at all.

You did put the oil in right?

The only thing you forgot was to remove the funnel and put the cap back on??

Drain plug missing would have been a fail. But you should be ok. Stop listening to your car so closely!

So far you are okay as long as you arent an ASE certified mechanic at a Nissan dealership. They never forget about anything! The best techs on the planet IMO.

Yeah, at least you didn't forget to put the drain bolt back in the pan. I bought a car from a guy who did that. I came home from school the next day and found about 3 quarts of oil in my driveway.

Yes, i did put the oil in, and the level was still where it should be. So the oil pressure that high is nothing to be worried about? Thanks alot for the replies guys, it puts my mind at ease. LS1 Tech FTW yet again!

I would only worry when it drops to like 20 psi and below. You still running the stock pump? Doesnt sound like a ported one.

I remember after my motor build with the new ported LS6 pump I had like 80-85 psi of oil pressure and it lasted like that for about 3-4 days, then finally dropped to the normal 40-45 at idle and 60-70 at WOT...

You sir, are officially a post *****.

To the OP, you're fine. People do that all the time. Just as long as you had oil in the engine, then nothing happened.

For the first part, I can attest to when something isn't running quite right you think you hear anything and everything that could have possibly at one time been a problem in some generation and turns out to be regular road noise.

To the second part, freakin epic, I about peed myself when I saw that. People at work looked at me funny, oh how I love slow days.

Thanks guys, I can relax while driving the car again. And thanks to this thread, i have decided to drop this aircraft gig and look for jobs at Nissan dealerships, never knew they were such skilled mechanics and I feel compelled to join their ranks....
