Alright so i got my motor apart now and now is when i can start the build. My crank had a spun rod bearing and it dug in too deep, so i was wondering how much i would be looking for a new crank, a used one that works. Are the cranks interchangable between blocks. Could a 5.3L crank work in an ls1 or 6L in an ls1. I was just wondering so i know and also what prices would you guys say is good for a crank. Il just stick to stock since its good enough.thanks

It depends on your power goals. There are some cheap stroker cranks from Callies now, but they are a 5140 steel rather than 4340, so they won't be able to handle the same amount of stress, but if your goal is 500-600hp, the larger displacement should help with lag and require less boost to make the same power.
A stock crank on the other hand, can handle a lot of power. For the most part, they are interchangeable, except for certain years that came with a thicker rear flange for (I think) a 4L80E tranny in the trucks. I think they were the "216" cranks.

the balance is not the same between the 5.3 , 5.7 and 6.0 cranks and the 5.7(ls1) and the later years of the truck cranks have the mains drilled but yes you can use them just make sure as stated above you get the correct rear flange depth

just check the bearing surfaces make sure its smooth and no groves. the shop will need to balance the 5.3 or 6.0 crank using your rods, pistons, rings and bearings..
casting number 12552216 is what I would use.. its the most common and generally will be what you will want
and for price.. I think anything over 100.00 is too much for a stock crank and balancing is from 100-300 depending on the machine shop it adds up quick!
