i know i'm just saying some places do a better job with porting heads than others so to say ALL 243 heads are out flown by a whole company isn't true. it's up to how much you want to spend . . . or course a LS3 block with LS3 heads done up by west racing cylinder head would be awesome and might just walk all over most heads out there for the LS engines

I agree with that! They are damn near making as much power with those stock heads and the after market companies make with there heads. Like I said before, the only upside to going with heads like I have is that I can run a bigger cam than you can run in a stock head. Bigger cam (in most cases) will yield more hp than the smaller one.

unless you match everything up to that bigger cam it doesn't do squat though, just looks purty on a dyno

Yeah your right afrs and trickflow flow better than aftermarket companies that port stock heads but its not by much. PRC has heads that flow 312cfm and afrs flow about 320cfm. Yeah theirs a diffrence but for the money I would go with ls6 heads. Yes that is good about trickflow heads that you can run bigger cams but you also have to change rockers too. I would like to see the diffrence between heads (Prc 2.5 5.3 mil 59cc heads vs Trickflow heads) to see whats the diffrence In hp with same setup

How about this setup. Trickflow 215cc/64cc heads with a fast 102 with nw tb and fast toys 104 mm lid, kooks 1 7/8 with tsp true duals, and a LS1 custom grind, 235/240 .643"/.609" 111 LSA +1 cam. Oh yeah yella terra shaft mount roller rockers 1.7 and a a couple other things. Through an m6 any idea what kinda power this might make cause this is a setup im prolly doing in the next month or so??? I already got forged internals/ 12 bolt and have plans for a 150-200 wet shot in the future as well!!!

You can match the performance or come damn close in a stock head, well 243's. AFR's are glorified 243's with a big price tag. There are 243's that laid down numbers a trickflow has yet to. Problem is cost. When you spend $3500-4000 for the best in the business to port those 243's vs trickflows the trick flows are cheaper...

To the other posts above.
Hell my little patriot stage 1 h/c setup was running down 450-550 rwhp cars like crazy, it made 439 rwhp/394 trq, but had a decent curve, and was geared right. rwhp is just a number, results at the track will vary.... I like N/a and when done right will have decent low end, and instant throttle response, even with a large ish cam. DCR is improtant, tuning is important, every detail is important. When you just pick brand x cam, brand y heads, brand z intake throw it all together and expect a killer setup, you get those "why does my h/c car make 395 rwhp, and run 12.50 @ 116.

It would have to be on the same engine, engine dyno, on the same day to really get good results. I went 10.90@123mph 1.46 60ft with stock botom end, full weight (3600lbs with me in it) Trickflows 215cnc heads milled to 64cc, custom Futral cam 232/236-646/612 114LSA, racetronics fuel system, Built 4L60E with a PTC 4400rpm stall converter, Strange 12bolt with 4.11 rear gear and a 28" tall tire. We did the weight to 1/4 mile estimate and figured the car was making between 550hp and 575hp to the flywheel. I am sorry but I really don't know any stock (ported or unported) headed, full weight F-body that runs where I do on the stock bottom end LS1 engine without a power adder.

Here is the calculator we used. Remember this is just a mathmatical calculator saying you need this much power to move this much mass, at this speed in 1320ft.

No, I don't have any pictures except the one I have as my avatar. My car is a hardtop Z28 red with black racing strips. It came with the ugly crome snow flake wheels.. lol I might be changing my rear gear so I can run 26" tall tires again. Run some e.t. street with some wheels like you have on the street and then switch to the Billets when I am going to the track..

I hear people saying the LS6 heads are pretty good flowing heads, those are the 243's correct? Who has the best deals on them?

My heads are holding me back big time. I think if I were to get some better heads it will wake it up. My friend wants to run me in his ta but he has a proven combo (prc 2.5 5.3 heads with 228r cam) full bolt ons like me. So he is always talking **** so I want to beat him but I know hes fast he put 432 rwhp down.

for those arguing, flow numbers don't mean power by themselves, there is more to a head than flow numbers, tfs and afr heads are way better for lots of reasons, not because they flow better. There are reasons why we make fun of flow bench racers.

I would say you would see a nice improvement in performance. What does your car do in the 1/4 mile? I've already told you what mine is doing. You tell me if you think it made a difference.
