You probably won't find much information on this topic. Alan designed the lobes for his cams, and doesn't discuss them openly (I wouldn't either)....

I can say this, Cam Motion owns

Alan does use Cam Motion, and if I had to say, It would be closer to XE-R spec. Just a guess though. Cam Motion puts out some hard sh*t.

Buying directly from Com Motion would be no different than buying an FMS cam, right? AAP used Cam Motion too

Wrong. Alan's cams are a specific lobe that HE orders...

Yes we use Cam Motion for our cams, most of the lobes that we use were designed for FMS using the criteria Allan specified, so therefore those particular grinds are only available through FMS. Cams are very difficult to compare, they are much more than duration, lift and lsa. If you want to compare our lobes to Comp I would say they would be more comparable to the LS1 High RPM series.

Its hard to compare in general what each cam would do but the biggest difference in our cams is the power through the mid-range and ability to remain stable in upper rpm's.

Hope this helps some.

His reply to your question about just ordering any LS1 cam from Cam Motion would be pretty him telling you that YOU were wrong, in the fact that if you did order just any LS1 cam from Cam Motion, that it wouldn't be one of Alan's grinds, therefor not on his lobes, or any of his design specs. Pay attention a lil more next time.

Well I've seen a cam card for an FMS cam and one of AAP cams they are identical. I'm sure FMS developed some lobes there but of course they're going to want you to buy from them as opposed to cam motion.

If you read back, Candy said MOST of their cams have custom FMS lobes. She didnt say all.

Im sure FMS would prefer you buy their cams from them, as Im also sure LG would prefer you buy his G5X2 from him instead of Comp......

My 228/230 rides better then my 224 XE-R. No surging, nothing. Car actually drives like stock.

HC02SS, thanks that sounds very encouraging. I have a 224 XE-R on a 113 LSA that's very nicely mannered. If FMS 228/230 on a 114 or 115 wouldn't push the peaks too high that might be my next cam.

Make sure you get some advance ground in, and you'll be fine. A 114+4 would idle like stock, and still make PLENTY under the curve..

FWIW my cam is on a 114+0 and the graph is still nice and fat
