Default Largest LS1 bore?
whats the largest bore ls1 can take? how much does Mahle pistons for LS1 costs? I want to build an LS1 like the old school way large bore big cam big heads and carb

You cant even bore an LS1, but you can have it resleeved for a few grand.

a ls1 block can be honed out to 3.908,a ls2 block can be bored out to 4.030.go to TSP and look at pistons and blocks.

a friend of mine just overhauld his engine and the pistons were Mahle .20 over on LS1 ! Im confused tbh

Then it wasn't an LS1 block.. might have been an iron truck block? An LS2?

max hone on an LS1 aluminum block is .010. that is the max limit

I dont think a 2001 Z28 Camaro came with iron block or LS2's Im pretty sure they were Mahle .020 over pistons

If they were off the shelf Mahle's, they were 3.905 which is a .007 overbore.

As has been said...You can't bore an alloy LS1, 3 different hone sizes. 3.903, 3.905, 3.908

3.908 is the max you can punch out a LS1 before the cylinder walls are to thin.

Stock bore is a 3.898.. basicly a 3.9

Grab a calculator & do your math, you will see it doesn't work...nothing to be confused about, cly walls are to thin.
