Kill Switch

Kill Switch
I am wanting to install a kill switch on the ground side of my battery on 1998 LS1. Will this hurt anything in ? I want to kill the power when I park the car.
This is in a 1952 chevy tin woody.

You need to install a relay to the igntion, or whatever circuit(s) you want to
disable.
If you were to isntall a switch on the main battery line, it would have to
be massive and powerful enough to handle the cranking current and amperage
draw of the entire car when in operation. Not a good idea.

naa they make kill switches...use um on drag cars all the time. Very common, but killing the power to everything everytime aint a good idea. I would install a kill switch for the starter relay or ignition relay so the pcm stays powered up.
If yer really serious about stopping someone from driving it away i would wire it up so it FRIES a couple fuses if anyone tries to start it. That way no one will ever drive it away. Towing it away you will never stop.

You should wire it so the ECM stays hot. I have also heard of splicing the kill switch inline between the fuel pump relay and the ECM. The key on will ignite the ecm but the kill switch will keep the relay from lighting up the fuel pump.
