Default Carbed 6.0 Camshaft

Is there anyone out there grinding cams specifically for carbed applications or does someone make a decent off the shelf cam? About all i have found is you want to keep the lsa lower. Comps thumpers have lower lsa but they seem to be more worried about sound than power and driveability. Also any carb guys that want to give their input on the cam they are using feel free.

I'm building a 5.3 carbd' motor to go in my chevelle and looking for a cam also.
Found this on Ebay. When I asked them who made them they responded by saying "they are GM billets we grind" Is it BS or real? You tell me. $149.00 Sounds too good.

I'll check out Thunder and maybe give Patrick a PM.

Big Joe at speedtalk seems to really like the thumpr series for most all engines in the power they can make. I plan on using one in my next carb build.

Our cam SD0121 made ~485 HP on an LQ9/LS3 top end swap. As cast Gm heads, GMPP carb intake. Engine is running in a mud bog race in Canada.

thanks for the replies...i think i will end up going with a custom cam. Motor is a lq9 but i have to decide what heads to use first. Either mill the 317's a bit or get a set of 243's but im afraid with these the motor wont like 93 octane. Static compression would be up around 11:1 i assume which in my experiences is too much for pump gas but i also dont know my dynamic until i pick out a cam...
Motor is going in a street/strip car with a 150 shot extra. Plan on just doing rod bolts on bottom end and maybe a mild port job/ 3 angle valve job to heads, custom cam/ valvesprings/ pushrods, single plane intake, ect...

Call Bullet cams, I just had them grind me a Ls1 solid roller. I was advised by them and others to stay between 108-110 lsa for a carbed motor. They have the best tech on staff of all the cam companies in my personal opinion.

Well maybe i will just try and find a set of 243's and run with them. I understand it will require race fuel mix when sprayed but im hoping it will have plenty of power for the street so i dont have to spray from stoplight to stoplight...

with a cam that size im sure its manditory for a converter that size...but does that converter feel real loose on the street or does it feel tight. In my 78 t/a i have a 3000 stall hughes and that damn thing feels like tranny slippage below 3000 because its so loose- kinda sucks for just cruising, but goes like h*** when on it

They are not completely correct. That may have been the rule on some SBC, but definitely NOT in the LS world. We have cams in the 112-114 range that perform just as well as the lower LSA cams that we carry on the shelf.
