Default New Melling LS1 Oil pump, part #?

Several guys have mentioned in posts about melling having a new ls1 oil pump out.

Does anyone know the part # on it? Also does anyone know if its a higher pressure pump or any pros/cons to it?

I'm not sure of the part number but Melling does have an ls1 oil pump out, or soon to be out. It IS NOT high volume or high pressure.

What's the point of making a different unit if it's just deburred. You can do that yourself to the stock unit. What in the body makes it more beneficial?

How does being made of a better material warrant a benefit? I don't think I have read of any GM stock oil pumps exploding

Theres no way to install it wrong. The only problems people had were with the relief valves on the pre 99 cars and that problem is long gone. If youve ever taken one apart, its very simple inside.

Why would you want to pay a premium $$ for a pump if it's not gonna' benefit you over stock?

The only way you could install it wrong is if you didn't seat the o-ring for the pickup tube correctly into the oil pump housing. This would cause you to have decreased oil pressure, etc, possibly scoring a bearing. But this wouldn't be a pump failure as the pump would still be working just putting out less volume b/c there was a decreased amount of oil delivered to the pump from the non-sealing o-ring situation.
